Seattle

Seattle  – Top tips I wish I had known before visiting!

Lots of pictures are available on the @thepotteringpanda Instagram!

1. Take an umbrella

I can guarantee it will rain.

2. Accommodation

Seattle was quite pricey for accommodation, which we didn’t realise and there seemed to be a shortage of central Air Bnbs. Definitely book ahead, especially if you are travelling in peak time!

3. The free view things to do!

There is a fantastic view of the city from the Kerry Park viewpoint. Hilly but worth it.

The Olympic Sculpture  Park is also well worth a visit at dusk for one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.

4. It is VERY hilly.

Not much more to be said on this one. Brace yourself!

5. Bus vs Train

We came here from Vancouver, BC Canada. We booked the train thinking it would be quicker and easier. It wasn’t and it is more expensive. Due to a cancellation, we ended up getting a bolt bus on the way back. Comparing the two, the bolt bus was a much better and cheaper option.

6. Pike Place Market

Hang around long enough and you will see men throwing real fish to each other. It’s not a myth.

Also, ATMs in here will charge to withdraw, and it’s more than others in the city. Be prepared and go somewhere else first!

Lastly, while on Pike Place  – the oldest Starbucks is located here. And the queues are insane, so if it is something you want to do, go early or late!

7. Eating out is expensive (but worth it!)

Prepare yourself to spend A LOT on food in Seattle. The USA is always expensive but Seattle was particularly pricey. It is also a lot of fish dishes (I’m not a fan), so do bear this in mind! That said, we went to some really lovely places on our visit. Drop us a comment if you want to know where!
